Supporting Your Child’s Teachers

Creating a strong relationship with their teachers will help your child feel supported and build trust. Just as we encourage our teachers to establish caring, positive relationships with children, we encourage families to do the same with teachers. Consistent communication, participation, and appreciation are all great ways to build relationships with the staff in your child’s school.

Share Daily Communication

We want our teachers to connect with you every day, and it’s just as important that our teachers hear from you. Sharing updates, fun stories, concerns, or new milestones are all ways to connect with teachers about your child’s daily growth and development. Drop-off and pick-up times are great opportunities to speak face-to-face. Use our SproutAbout® app to stay in contact throughout the day to ensure your teacher is aware of schedule changes, sleep patterns, tough mornings, etc. The more teachers know about your child’s experiences, the more effective they are in adjusting to meet their daily needs with personalized attention and care.

Attend Family-Teacher Conferences

Another great opportunity to build relationships is by attending Family-Teacher Conferences. In the fall and spring, you will have the chance to speak with your child’s teacher one-on-one about their development and progress. Teachers will share photos, stories, and information about your child’s successes in the classroom. Family-Teacher Conferences give you a chance to get your questions answered and hear about the learning that’s taking place during your child’s day. Participating in these discussions helps teachers feel supported as partners in their journey.

Show Your Gratitude

Our teachers are passionate about working with each child, every day. They will always value your words of appreciation and gratitude. Each spring in early May, we celebrate their dedication, hard work, and commitment during Teacher Appreciation Week. This gives them a chance to feel extra special, so they’d love to hear from you. Consider sharing a personal note, a shout-out to school leaders, or a SproutAbout message to recognize a meaningful moment goes a long way.
