Be Prepared for Elementary School

by Dr. Susan Canizares | March 4, 2015 | Early Education & Literacy | Kindergarten Readiness

KindergartenReadinessLike many parents of preschool-aged children, you’re probably wondering, What comes next?

After all, there’s still a lot of growing and learning to do before entering elementary school. Let’s take a minute to explore some options, with these school readiness program offerings.

The Pre-K program offers substantial learning experiences in literacy and mathematics.

This includes our Focus on Literacy! enhancement, featuring in-school and at-home activities to improve every child’s literacy skills. Early math is explored through simple addition and subtraction, as well as the sorting and classifying of objects. And our new Focus on Math! enhancement offers further development of math skills for these early learners.

In addition to core concepts, we focus on building your child’s strengths in areas such as problem solving, responsive listening, and using language as a learning tool.

Small- and large-group learning experiences also enhance social and collaborative skills.

Kindergarten Prep

For children who have completed Pre-K, but are not yet eligible for kindergarten in the fall, K Prep is an option. Small-group instruction, extended seatwork, and an introduction to kindergarten-level learning experiences in literacy, math, and handwriting are featured.

Junior Kindergarten

In this program, children will receive additional school readiness training. Learning experiences are informed by research-based curriculum, while the children experience the structure and format of a kindergarten day and develop critical skills for elementary school.

Children will learn to follow multi-step instructions, to seek multiple ways of solving problems, to control their impulses, and sustain their attention over the course of a school day.

Private Kindergarten

This is a small class, with big opportunities. An excellent teacher-to-student ratio ensures personal, individualized attention for each child with a certified teacher.

Children will read collectively and independently, write to communicate ideas, and learn place value 1’s, 10’s, and 100’s through award-winning, research-based curriculum.

In addition, they will work independently and in groups, learn to set goals, and develop their critical-thinking skills, such as reasoning and analyzing.
