Kindergarten Preparedness
Different kids may be smart in different ways, but Tutor Time kids will always be ready for kindergarten. Our unique Tutor Time® LifeSmart™ curriculum helps them meet or exceed the latest Kindergarten Readiness Standards. It’s been proven that children learn best when they’re actively involved and, at Tutor Time, learning is very active. Click here for more detail on our Tutor Time® LifeSmart™ curriculum.
FOUNDATIONAL CONCEPTS:
Shapes, colors, motor skills, following directions.
We work with children to recognize shapes, colors and simple opposites using blocks, paints, crayons and a large variety of different kinds of materials to touch and use. As an example, we might make a graph of the different colors the class is wearing, or work in teams to match shapes. During large group activities, we help kids focus on spatial concepts like over and under, backwards and forwards, and fast and slow.
LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT:
Letters, sounds, words, stories, retention.
From recognizing letters to writing their own names, words and sentences, children have endless opportunities to develop their language skills. Matching items to their labeled shelves, playing letter and word games, making up their own stories and even helping create the weekly Family Newsletter all let children learn actively through subjects that are meaningful to them.
MATH DEVELOPMENT:
Matching, sorting, recognizing numbers, counting.
Math and spatial skills are things we use every day, so we surround kids with items that promote their development. Counting, sorting and matching objects by similar characteristics, determining the number of plates or napkins needed at snack time and having children verify how many can be in a certain interest center all seamlessly integrate learning into daily activities.
