Meet Our Tutor Time Staff – Ms. Beth, Assistant Director

Meet Ms. Beth, the assistant director at our Tutor Time location in Shelby Township, MI! She has been the assistant director at Tutor Time for about one year, but has several years of early education experience. Read our Q&A with Ms. Beth to learn more about this amazing member of our management team!

Tell us some more about your background!

I have my Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in child development and its focus is in early childhood. I’ve been in early childhood education since my senior year of high school when we worked in elementary schools as teacher helpers. From there, I followed up with my early childhood degree. After college, I worked in a few daycare settings out of state, and when we came back to Michigan, I spent five years teaching head start programs. When my youngest child was born, I took two years off to stay home with my children and when I decided to return to work, I came to Tutor Time!

Why did you choose a career in early education?

I have always loved working with children. Their innocence, their passion and their view on the world. You can take away all the world’s ugliness when you see things through their eyes.

What do you enjoy about working at Tutor Time?

I absolutely love the staff here. We all have a good time together, we work well together, the kids are a ton of fun and they’re excited every day.

Could you share some of your responsibilities as assistant director?

My main duty aside from office work and greeting parents is to spend time in my classrooms supporting my staff. Every day I’m in and out of our eight classrooms. I support teachers, spend time with kids and get to know families.

What are some hobbies or interests you have outside of work?

I really enjoy cooking and baking. I find that very relaxing. I also enjoy spending time with my family and going camping with my husband and my kids. We just got a camper, so we’re starting to venture out!
